Squalane Sugar Cane Derived

For decades, Squalane has been used by formulators as a high performing emollient: the gold standard for imparting a smooth and supple skin feel. Squalane through the years has also been surrounded by controversy. Initially derived from the harvesting of shark liver oil, its origin became unattractive in the 1980’s when consumers began to express concerns about ingredients of animal origin and extinction of shark species. Olive-based sources of Squalane quickly replaced shark derived material, however, unreliable supplies and wildly fluctuating prices have limited its broad use.
